Getting to Heathcote from Melbourne

From Melbourne it is only about 1.5 to 2 hours to Heathcote. From the Citylink / Tullamarine Fwy you take the Western Ring Rd for a bit. Take the Northern Ring Rd to get on the Hume Fwy. Follow the Hume Fwy for about 30 kms and then take the Northern Hwy for about 40 - 50 kms and you will drive into Heathcote. Easy does it!

Heathcote Wineries

There are over 25 wineries and 70 vineyards are in the Heathcote area. As said before, Heathcote is red wine country. You can experience the rich and superb tastes of these wines at the Heathcote wine and food festival. Over 200 varieties of wines are shown from many different vineyards. Some of these wines are well known and others are from new wineries so they're shown for the first time.

A few of these winemakers include Heathcote Winery, Greenstone Vineyard, Banksia Grove Vineyard, The Bridge Vineyard and Lindenton Wines. You can meet and talk to the winemakers and participate in guided tasting. You can also attend a seminar or wine appreation course.

Heathcote Festival :: More Than Wine Alone

This festival isn't only about wine. Wines are offered with all kinds of interesting and mouth watering foods. There are delicious gourmet foods and local foods such as cheeses and olives. Some exhibitors you may like are Goldfields Farmhouse Cheese, Michel's Fine Biscuit Co. Castlemaine, Olive Branch Preserves and Bendigo Hats.

Cooking demonstrations are done by local chefs so you can learn exactly how the food is made. Entertainment includes live music with many different singers and instruments. There's also entertainment for the children such as races, face painting and much more.

Heathcote is sufficiently close to Melbourne.

So you can have a great day-trip and explore some of the tastes of the Heathcote region.

You can of course also decide to make a weekend of it and spend some quality time with your partner and/or family in beautiful Central Victoria.

Whatever you do, do it with care and find a designated driver. Drinking and driving is not only subject to high fines and the loss of your licence, but stupid and dangerous as well!
