Melbourne Writers Festival

The Melbourne Writers Festival has been around for well over twenty years.

The festival features approximately 280 renowned as well as local writers.

If you are booklover or an aspiring writer, the Melbourne Writers Festival is sure to please.

This is your chance to get up close and personal with some writers.

Some Information About The Melbourne Writers Festival

The Melbourne Writers Festival lasts for ten days. Within those ten days, three of them are put aside for school events. Even if you work during the day you should still be able to go to the festival, because for those ten days they operate from 10am right until 10pm. There are about 300 events that take place, so there will be something fun for everyone.

The Melbourne Writers Festival offers special events that include certain all day workshops for children under the age of thirteen. There are also many different seminars and master classes for beginners as well as experienced writers. There is a festival club that offers certain book launches and quiet evenings of scheduled events.

Many people attend this great event, and in the year 2008 a record of 10,000 students attended the school events. There were a total number of more than 45,000 visitors to the other main programs. That's enough people to make you want to go and see what the fuss is all about, even if you have to take a plane to get there!
